BBB Breaks Record at Rad Air

According to the U.S. Census, more than 250,000 citizens became victims of identity theft in 2010. Most victims do not even realize their identity has been stolen. The first rule of protecting your identity: If you don’t need it, shred it! The Cleveland Better Business Bureau hosted their annual community shredding event at two local Rad Air locations on Saturday, October 22nd. Greater Cleveland residents were welcome to bring three boxes or bags of old documents to the Westlake and Strongsville Rad Air Complete Car Care locations in an effort to protect residents from identity theft and dispose of old paper responsibly.

In order to ensure these documents are shredded and recycled properly, All Ohio Secure Shred sent a shredding truck to each location. Cars started lining up before 9:00 in the morning to drop off boxes of old documents. Police stopped by at both locations to help direct traffic.

In previous years the Cleveland BBB saw approximately 300 cars at the annual event and shredded around 11,000 pounds of paper. This year the event shattered expectations with 1,160 cars and a total of 42,600 pounds of shredded paper.
